Fell for the scam

Unfortunately I fell for the scam from Rapid data, wish I googled the reviews before sending off my external drive, but I was desperate to get my data back and they seemed so friendly on the phone. Sent off my drive, was told the most expensive repair would be £300, which I thought ok as I had 190gb on my drive. Then they get back to me, quoting serious issues with my drive and the price would now be £425+ vat+delivery to recover 80gb of files. They emailed me the file list in an attachment, but none of those showed the size. When I told them I would think about it and call them back, the pressure started saying that they are really busy, can only keep my files on their servers for a day so I need to make a decision. They also reduced the price to £320+vat plus delivery, all ended up costing about £390. I paid, then after about an hour I got cold feet and called them to cancel. Was told the work has already started and could not be stopped. Whatever. They promised to deliver in three days and so far so good - the package arrived when they said it would. What I got was an internal hard drive for which I had to go out and buy and enclosure costing £30, in order to connect the drive to my computer. I was told once I return their drive, mine would be sent back..... yeah right. First - the so called recovered files - loads of them were just empty folders with nothing in them. Then loads of the files that had something in them had some unreadable unix files that I could not access. I deal with high-res photography and needed some of the images that were not backed up on discs, so imagine my horror when loads of those photographs were "recovered" as a negative? Many high res photos size 100mb each are in the form of negative and unreadable! Tried calling and emailing, got one email back that customer services would be contacting me regarding my concern. Fat chance, heard nothing! In the end I gave up, sent back their drive so at least I could get my own drive back to

I didnt even know they sent the drive to the UK

A client of mine has a failed computer hard drives and the data needed to be recovered. I do not do data recovery so, I contacted Fields Data Recovery. He gave me all the information to send the drives in for recovery. A few days later I received a text file listing all the files that are recoverable and a cost of $1,000 was negotiated and a check was sent. On 8/2/2010 I received a package containing 7 DVDs of data. After attempting to open many many files recovered filed, I found 8 or 9 out of 10 files were corrupt. I immediately contacted and spoke with ___ regarding the quality of the files. He said he would check with the recovery engineers and get back to me in the afternoon. It is not 8/11/2010 and I still have not heard from him. I have left 4 additional messages and sent 3 e-mails since 8/2/2010. I have since stopped payment on my check until he can produce DVDs with good data. I will then re-issues a check. However, I do not think I will hear from him.

Took my money then stop answering calls

Fields took my money and produced only a very few files, not at all what they had promised (after they had inspected my hard disk). I lost a great deal of time, information and money but the most frustrating aspect was that they failed to respond to my repeated phone calls and would not return my calls. They are, in my opinion, incompetent and very probably there actions could be construed as fraud. My strong advice is DO NOT USE THEM - you'll be sorry!!

These are all fake reviews posted by Fields, cross check the names/dates or Google Fields Data Recovery Scam and you'll see that they are well know for this kind of thing. Avoid unless you want your data destroyed.

Rapid has obviously been around a while and knows their way around data recovery. My I-phone got wet and some of the data I never backed up like contacts and pictures. They recovered the data I needed for a good price, and I was very happy with their service and the time it took to recover it.

Camera memeory blank

My camera memory card appeared blank when I wanted to download pictures off it, and I could not retrieve it with standard software so I took it to Fields. I got it back really quickly as well. A highly recommendable service!

My hard drive bumped against my desk when I was moving it, and needed the help of a professional with the right facilities to ensure I didn't get more damage done to it. I researched Fields and sent my hard drive to them. I'm so happy I didn't try and do it myself or send it to some butcher, they recovered my data completely. Well done.

Satisfied with the professional data recovery

My hard drive crashed unexpectedly, and I approached Rapid for recovery. They recommended Fields as an alternative recovery company, because of the severe damage to my hard drive. Fields completed a full recovery professionally, and Rapid didn't charge me for the analysis or referral, as promised. I am happy to recommend either of these names in data recovery.

Rapid was professional and friendly, I appreciated their advice and free diagnostic. They could unfortunately not recover my crashed server but suggested Fields and true to their word did not charge me. Fields has access to some special technology and could recover all my data, and I am grateful to both companies for quality service.

I approached Rapid to restore the data on my hard drive. They performed a diagnostic and advised me to go with Fields. Fields did a brilliant job of getting all my data back, and that's all thanks to Rapid. They did not charge for their diagnostic, as they say on their website, and I would be happy to recommend either company.

My camera bag with my memory cards in got wet on the way back from my honeymoon, and when I discovered I couldn't access my photos my wife nearly went ballistic. Luckily Fields helped me out with a friendly and quick service; I got all my pictures back. Thanks a mill!

A professional service with a ‘can do' attitude

I needed my hard drive recovered and it turned out my first choice Rapid could not perform it in the time frame I required. I needed my laptop up and working in 24 hours as I was heading out of the country for a conference in 2 days. Timing could not have been worse. They referred me to Fields, who applied their emergency service and worked on it continuously until it was fixed. A life saver!

Fields was a very efficient and professional outfit that helped me recover data I had lost on my home computer. They gave me simple instructions to get it to them, and sent it back after the allotted 72 hours they quoted. I was relieved to get all my personal files back.

“We experienced a massive RAID system crash due to a hard drive failure, and having used Rapid Data Recovery for a smaller matter years ago, sent my device to them for data salvaging. After analyzing my problem, they suggested I send my hard drive to Fields Data Recovery for that specific problem. Fields ended up recovering all the data I almost lost, and charged a reasonable price. Rapid didn't charge me for the referral or diagnostic, so I am very appreciative to them for helping me find a solution without any monetary reward.”

When my hard drive crashed, I was in a serious panic mode. I didn't know where to go, was completely inexperienced and came across a couple of good reviews on Fields Recovery. After they got my hard drive they told me what they could retrieve, which was the majority of the data I had on there, and gave me a quote. I had heard some horror stories that some recovery companies end up charging you a fortune, but Fields stuck to their quote, and I got my data back on a 500GB hard drive, three days later. I found them to be professional, straight forward and friendly, all that they promised me I got. Definite recommendation!
