it’s such a great idea in principle and I’m so disappointed with how it’s delivered. Today we had a meal there, mine tasted like charcoal and had hair in it, although my husband was more happy and previously it was better. When I was asked to give feedback and said that my breakfast was burnt I was told that actually it wasn’t but they are sorry. The two men that worked there were wearing stained, dirty clothes, layers of shirts and tshirts and winter wool hats. There were two electric heaters but the place was still freezing. The men just seemed really dirty and stoned, with all the healthy principles you wonder how safe is it to eat charcoaled food made by someone wearing clothes that look like took out from a rubbish bin. It wasn’t a nice experience at all, and I get no satisfaction from saying this… And when you consider prices- £5 for breakfast that was not eatable, £3 small cup of almond milk to sit in freezing cold and get such rubbish is unacceptable. I won’t be coming there again…

I found this shop when I was visiting family in Cardiff. It is on Clifton Street, a not particularly glamorous area of Cardiff but the shop is out of this world. It is a fairly new business, selling organic and Fair Trade produce, run and owned by a friendly husband and wife team. It has a wonderfully old-fashioned feeling. You can buy organic produce by the bag full or 5p worth of mint if you just need a bit for a recipe. They sell everything for the discerning vegan and vegetarian and if you want gluten free or are lactose intolerant, this is the place for you. Also heavenly locally made chocolates from hipo hyfryd. If you are hungry at lunch time, pop in for a wrap, a vegetarian/vegan soup or a smoothie, or just come in later in the day and have a cup of fair trade tea. If you have kids, there is even a Wendy house in the corner to amuse them whilst you chat to the welcoming and well-informed staff and buy ingredients for your dinner. They will also order practically anything, if you ask nicely enough. A great local alternative to the big supermarkets.
