  Melanie was awsome from start to finish. I wanted Mel to copy a dress from a photograph. It was for my adult daughter. It looks amazing and ust what we wanted. Mel is highly skilled and very friendly and helpful. I will certainly use her again and would reccomend her to anyone. Thanks Mel

• beautiful comfortable clothes

  I asked Melanie to make my wedding dress and a dress for dancing in later . they were beautifully made and very comfortable to wear. She made them partly from my description of what I wanted and partly from copying/updating a very old 1930's dress I had. The dresses came in on time and on budget.I felt very special on the day. I would use her again.

  I was told about Melanie's fantastic dressmaking skills by a friend whose daughter had had a prom dress made. Her dress was tasteful, elegant and something she will never cringe at in future photos! I asked Melanie to make three adult bridesmaid dresses with jackets for my upcoming wedding and was so glad I did! I was very pleased with the support and advice she gave me when first choosing materials and later when managing the last minute fittings. One bridesmaid went down a dress size just 2 days before the big day and Melanie managed the changes in record time and kept me sane throughout! I will certainly ask her to make me something else in the future.

• Original, talented, sensitive, and utterly professional - quite simply the best - Melanie Hobday

  Melanie Hobday is a huge talent. She has the ability to create original, top quality clothing with people from all walks of life and of every shape and size. Five years ago Melanie made me feel like a goddess when she created a wedding dress that hugged all the places I wanted it to and disguised everything I wanted to hide. It was beautifully tailored, with the upmost attention to every detail from first fitting to the big day. Any nerves I had about engaging someone to make my wedding dress melted away during our fittings. Anyone who is fortunate enough to have a Melanie Hobday dress should count themselves very lucky: though many dressmakers describe themselves as professional, you are very unlikely to find anyone better than Melanie.

• Excellent dressmaker

  I have known Mel for the past few years and during that time she has made me many outfits and has altered many garments for me too. I cannot speak too highly of Mel's talents. She is very friendly and approachable and has come up with some great and innovative ideas for me. After back surgery and some disability following this, Mel has really helped me to re invent my wardrobe which has enabled me to feel much more confident when attending business and social occasions. The finish on her work is beautiful and it is always ready well on time. Thank you Mel

• A muliti use Wedding Outfit

  My sister was a mature first time bride in April 2010. She wanted an outfit that made her feel great, glamorous and could be worn for other special occassions. Mel's knowledge of theatrical costume came to the fore and she created a fabulous evening coat and evening dress based on the hollywood stars of the 50s but with a contemporary twist Together this may be a wedding dress but separately my sister now has two ageless eveing outfits. The timing was a bit tight but there is no doubt that the wedding outfit played a great part in my sister being the absolute star of her wedding day. The price was also very reasonable. We would use Mel's services again

• Fabulous Service for Blooming Bride

  I searched and searched for the perfect wedding dress for my big day, being a very short lady I wanted something different that would suit my height but have a BIG impact. I found Miss Hobday on the web and hey presto, I got the perfect dress, something different than the norm, special, unique and a dress that totally made a little lady like me feel brilliant. However the story was not that plain sailing, I found out I was pregnant and my tummy was expanding rapidly before my big day, this did not phase Miss Hobday and she worked patiently with it adjusting the dress 3 days before the wedding......and the dress was still amazing. THANK YOU MISS HOBDAY for a dress I felt confident and amazing in and for your total patience and understanding. Not sure if the above review is for the same Melanie Hobday as I could not recommend her enough.

• Great costume & dress-maker

  I have known Melanie for 20 years. I have worked with her several times since 1999 and had her make several garments for me for TV shows and theatre productions in my capacity as a Costume Designer, Supervisor and Cutter. She has never let me down, and is always quick, accurate, friendly and efficient. I have recommended her several times and will continue to do so as one of the best dress & costume makers in Cardiff.

  I have to agree with the review above about the tight timing , but I cannot fault the design that Melanie made. She was given a photo of the sorcerer's dress from Merlin and it was exactly what my daughter wanted. Her finished work was very detailed You could have worn the dress inside out the finish was that good. Also E was riding a shire horse to her medieval wedding so the dress had to be adapted, cullotes were made with an overskirt .Lace bodice interwoven with ribbons, a beautiful cape dipped at the back I cannot fault anything that Melanie made just the timing, I was getting a bit fretful , Yes I would use Melanie again her work is beautiful
