Old Orleans is a themed restaurant that serves typical American-style food accompanied by Jazz music. They also provide a children's menu. Catering for private parties is provided. It is a great place for the whole family and is particularly loved for its Mardi Gras celebration.
Rubbish rip-off
I didnt think much of this at all. Wwe went for a birthday party and they squeezed us all onto a really small table which I didnt like. It was very hot and uncomfortable in there. The staff were not organised at all and the food was not good at all. I thought it was quiet expensive for what we got and it didnt look great on the plate either. They offer cocktail offers early in the night but it took ages for us to get served. Wwe had to get about 6 drinks at a time. There also wasnt much room in there. I think the tables were set very wrong and they have gaming machines in there!1 I wouldnt recommend this place at all for parties. If you are just popping in for a drink it's not too bad

I really did not rate Old Orleans that much after a recent visit. There were about 20 of us visiting for a friends birthday party and overall most of us were unhappy with the night. The food was pretty average to be honest and nothing particularly exciting. Half of our starters were served cold and they tried overcharging us for the wine that we had.I got the impression that the waiter was just willing us to leave as he certainly lacked enthusiasm! The cocktails were good but better in Hard Rock.Maybe it was unfortunate that I was part of a big group as I have heard more positive feedback from friends who have been on other nights.I would give it another shot!

I first came across Old Orleans when I met a friend there for cocktail after work one evening. The range of cocktails and shooter is good, and quite cheap too if you hit it at the right time and advantage of the offers. Our plan was to go elsewhere for dinner after a few cocktails, but sat reading the menu in the bar we decided to stay and give Old Orleans a try. The food lovely and there was plenty of choice on the menu. I had the chicken and ribs combo and would highly recommend it!I would say the restaurant is pretty child friendly as well. There a crayons on the table and paper table cloths, so children (and adults!) can doodle on it while they wait for their food to arrive.
I have been here several times, both for cocktails and meals. The Happy Hour is great for cocktails to start the night off, whethere staying for a meal or moving on to other pubs and bars in cardiff. It is very centrally located, so is an ideal start to a night out. I believe this is a chain of restaurants, but I have only ever been to this one, so cannot comment on the chain in general. The food is great - I think it is loosely based on French Cajun Cuisine, mixed in with some Mexican dishes. I have enjoyed the jambalaya, the blackened fish steaks (tuna and salmon) and burgers here. There is such a good choice of food, I would be surprised if anyone was disappointed. I have visited here with many friends, and there is always enough chicken dishes to satisfy any fussy eaters.
